EWU’s first contract is finalized!

Evergreen Workers Union and Washington Conservation Action finalized contract negotiations and signed a two-year contract agreement through fall 2025.

This is an exciting step forward, not only for us, but for Washington’s environmental, labor, and progressive movements as a whole. We are glad to conclude our over two-year bargaining process and look forward to our contract helping the organization internally embody the change we advocate for in external systems.

Some highlights from our first contract include:

A bonus and a raise for every employee represented by the union.

Clearer and more equitable structures and systems to support staff who are immigrants to the United States.

Eliminating religious holidays in favor of more equitable floating holidays at the employee’s discretion.

An article dedicated to upholding Tribal sovereignty—a first of its kind for unions represented by CWA.

Improved, more equitable policies around reproductive and gender care for employees.

We know solidified policies that protect workers rights and compensation will set the organization up for success—with a committed, diverse workforce and lower turnover rates.
