Evergreen Workers Union Statement on Israeli Occupation of Gaza

WHEREAS, every day we witness the continual brutal killing of people of Gaza and their children using arms supplied by the U.S. and the continually rising death toll.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union believes that the worker’s struggle follows no nationalist borders, and that union organizing demands solidarity with workers everywhere.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union understands the Palestinian struggle and oppression is a climate and environmental justice issue—from the indiscriminate destruction of Palestinian families, land, and ecological resources, to the emissions generated during war.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union recognizes that Israel’s laws, policies, and practices regarding Palestinians fulfill the international legal definition of apartheid and of war crimes.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union believes that by providing support to Israel—including but not limited to supplying arms, investing in weapons manufacturing, maintaining cordial diplomatic ties with Israel, and suppressing free speech of those in solidarity with Palestine—the U.S. is complicit in Israel’s war crimes and the systematic ethnic cleansing of Palestinians.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union believes that it is unethical and hypocritical for the U.S. to supply Palestinian victims with aid while simultaneously supplying Israel with billions of dollars of taxpayer money for weapons to continue its genocidal bombardment of Gaza.

WHEREAS, Evergreen Workers Union denounces any effort to harass, intimidate, shame, dox, suppress, and censor free speech calling for Palestinian liberation and calling for the immediate end to their suffering.

THEREFORE, be it resolved that Evergreen Workers Union supports the Palestinian trade unions’ call for labor everywhere to stop the shipment of arms for the Israeli invasion of Palestine, and we support worker’s actions in the U.S. to stop the arms shipments, and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, Evergreen Workers Union calls for the immediate end to Israel’s genocidal bombing of Gaza and the ethnic cleansing of Palestinians, to all U.S. funding and arms deals in support of it, and for Israel to vacate Gaza and the West Bank and end the illegal occupation of Palestinian lands.
